Following dispute with Trump, Elon Musk proposes “America Party” and gains 64% support

A Twitter poll launched by billionaire Elon Musk proposing the creation of a new political entity called the “America Party” has sparked wide interest, with 64.3% voting in favor out of a total of 948,706 participants.

The “No” vote stood at 35.7%, in what Musk described as an effort to gauge public appetite for “independence from the traditional two-party system” (Republican and Democrat), especially on the occasion of Independence Day.

Musk noted that the proposed party would stand “squarely in the middle” of the two major parties, aiming to move beyond the current political polarization.

However, experts remain skeptical, pointing to the legal and logistical hurdles, including the need to gather thousands of signatures in every state, build a nationwide party infrastructure, and the limited representativeness of social media polls in reflecting national opinion.

The announcement comes amid growing tensions between Musk and Donald Trump, particularly after Musk voiced opposition to a budget bill backed by the former president. Some analysts interpret the move as a political warning with uncertain outcomes.

The proposal is likely to fuel further debate about the role of billionaires in shaping U.S. party politics.
