A unit of the Russian expeditionary corps was caught in a trap late Thursday, set by the National Liberation Front of Azawad, resulting in the detonation of an improvised explosive device. The extent of casualties remains unknown at this time.
According to exclusive field sources obtained by African Perceptions, fighters from the front planted an explosive device inside a motorcycle, deliberately placed along the path of a Russian patrol.
Sources reported that “as soon as the Russian soldiers approached the motorcycle, it exploded upon contact—indicating the use of precise detonation techniques.”
African Perceptions also obtained an exclusive video recorded by a member of the front, showing the planting of mines camouflaged in various ways along the routes used by Russian and Malian forces.
In the video, the voice of a fighter is heard saying: “This is what we’ve prepared for the Russian invaders in our desert… They will no longer roam freely—wherever they go, they’ll burn from our mines.”
Accurate field intelligence indicates that the “Alla Ag Al-Bashir Battalion,” affiliated with the Azawad Liberation Front, is among the most skilled and specialized in mine warfare, having successfully carried out several ambushes in recent months against Russian and Malian troops deep within the Azawad desert.
