At least 27 people were killed and several others injured in an armed attack on the village of Jibu Raws in Nigeria’s central Plateau State.
Local sources reported that the attackers, suspected to be members of Fulani herder groups, used firearms and machetes during the assault, which occurred late the night before last.
Hagai Gankis, secretary of the local youth organization, confirmed that the victims included women, and several wounded individuals were taken for medical treatment.
A resident stated that some of the bodies were burned by the attackers, making identification difficult.
The incident is part of ongoing violence between farmers and herders in the region, driven by long-standing disputes over land and natural resources in Plateau State.
