Senegal and China signed a series of cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding during an economic forum held in Hangzhou, China, covering sectors such as industry, infrastructure, housing, energy, and transportation.
In his opening speech, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko emphasized the importance of strategic partnership with the private sector, noting that China is a key partner in Senegal’s development.
Sonko urged Chinese investors to seize the opportunities offered by Senegal, highlighting its geographic location and institutional stability.
The forum brings together business leaders, investors, and government officials from both countries, and is part of Sonko’s official visit to China. He is also expected to attend the 2025 Summer Davos Forum in Tianjin.
Official data indicates that trade between Senegal and China reached $4.34 billion in 2022, marking a 14.8% increase compared to 2021.
