European Council President expresses concern over Middle East situation and urges restraint

European Council President António Costa expressed deep concern on Sunday over the situation in the Middle East, calling for restraint and diplomacy.

In a post on platform X, Costa wrote: “I urge all parties to show restraint and respect international law and nuclear safety.”

He added: “Diplomacy remains the only path to achieve peace and security in the region. Far too many civilians will once again fall victim to further escalation.”

He noted that the European Union will continue engaging with the parties and partners to support efforts for peace and security.
