Saudi Arabia announces Eid al-Adha 2025 dates

Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday the sighting of the Dhul-Hijja crescent.

It signalled the beginning of one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar.

With the crescent’s sighting, Eid Al-Adha will be observed on June 6.

During Eid al-Adha, also known as the festival of sacrifice, Muslims pray together, engage in charity work and sacrifice an animal, usually sheep.

Hajj, the annual holy pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, and one of the five pillars of Islam, is performed during this month.

Over one million Hajj pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia coming from abroad for this year’s Hajj season, Saudi officials announced on Monday.

The pilgrimage spans several days and includes a sequence of highly structured rites.

The Hajj pilgrimage begins on the 8th day of Dhul Hijjah and lasts until the 13th of the month.

This year, Hajj is is expected to take place between 4th June to the 9th June 2025.
