Indonesia ranks 2nd in economic growth among G20 countries

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, on Wednesday announced that the country was ranked second in economic growth among G20 countries.

In the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the country’s performance is second only to Vietnam, which recorded a jump of 6.93 per cent.

Hartarto said Indonesia’s economy expanded by 4.87 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, the second fastest among G20 countries after China (5.4 per cent).

This was reported by Antara News.

The minister said five key sectors made the main contribution to the country’s economic growth: manufacturing, trade, agriculture, construction and mining.

According to him, their combined share of the gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 63.96 per cent.

The total GDP has now reached 5665.9 trillion Indonesian rupiahs (about U.S.$341 million).

Hartarto expressed optimism about the future prospects, noting that growth may accelerate in the second quarter due to the implementation of government budget programmes.
