Success Masra, Chad’s transitional prime minister, announced the resignation of his government on Wednesday.
The resignation, which paves the way for the formation of a new government, came a day before the swearing-in ceremony of interim president, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, who was declared winner of the May 6 presidential election.
Masra came in second with 18.54 per cent of the votes.
“In accordance with the constitution, today, I have just submitted to the president of the transition my resignation as well as that of the transitional government.
“Our government has come to an end after the proclamation of the results of the May 6 presidential election,” he said in a post on social media early Wednesday.
Masra was appointed prime minister of the central African country in January.
