Burkina Faso’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Moussa Diallo, has called on the country’s defence and security forces to strengthen their unity, discipline and vigilance, saying the country will “very soon” overcome armed groups.
The appeal came during a visit to the military garrison in Kaya, in the Centre-North Region.
According to a statement issued by the Burkinabè military, Diallo visited Kaya between 29 and 31 July to deliver the congratulations and encouragement of transitional President and Commander-in-Chief Captain Ibrahim Traoré to troops deployed in the area.
The military said the visit was aimed at boosting the morale of forces engaged in operations against armed groups, improving coordination among military units and reinforcing operational readiness and discipline.
During meetings with military and paramilitary commanders, troops and local administrative officials in Koulsi Province, Diallo stressed that cohesion within the defence and security forces remains essential for restoring state control over the country’s territory.
The statement quoted him as saying: “We must unite and act together to liberate this country that we all love, and we will very soon eliminate these infidels.”
Diallo also visited the military hospital in Kaya, where he met soldiers wounded during operations, expressed the state’s support for them and praised the work of military and civilian medical personnel.
The visit comes as Burkina Faso continues military operations against armed groups that have been active across several parts of the country, fueling a prolonged security crisis that has displaced millions of people and left large areas outside full government control.
