Dilling in South Kordofan is facing a severe escalation in violence with renewed siege conditions pushing the humanitarian situation toward collapse.
At least 14 civilians including children and women were killed and dozens injured in a two day assault involving heavy shelling and drone strikes that hit residential areas and destroyed homes.
The attacks were attributed to a coordinated operation involving the Rapid Support Forces and a faction of the SPLM North while the Sudanese army said it repelled the offensive after intense fighting.
Despite earlier claims that the siege had been lifted recent developments indicate a renewed blockade after key areas were seized cutting a critical supply route and isolating the city.
The escalation is part of a wider pattern across Kordofan where repeated strikes have disrupted major transport corridors limiting the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Healthcare services are nearing collapse with hospitals and medical centers either shut down or operating at minimal capacity following continued shelling and attacks on health facilities.
Shortages of food and medicine are worsening as displacement rises with more than 132000 people already forced from their homes in the region in recent months.
Recent incidents across South Kordofan highlight a growing pattern of attacks on civilian areas and infrastructure.
Analysts warn that without immediate de escalation and humanitarian access Dilling could face a full breakdown of civilian life support systems.
