The humanitarian and security situation in Gaza remains critical despite a ceasefire in place since October 10, 2025, UN agencies and Palestinian health authorities warned.
Since the war began on October 7, 2023, at least 71,412 Palestinians have been killed, including more than 20,000 children, with over 171,000 injured. Violence has continued during the truce, with hundreds of deaths reported and hundreds of bodies recovered from rubble.
UN monitors describe the ceasefire as fragile, citing frequent violations, restricted aid flows, and widespread displacement. Nearly 1.9 million people remain internally displaced, while winter storms and food shortages have intensified civilian suffering.
Humanitarian agencies warn that without strict enforcement of the ceasefire, expanded aid access, and renewed political efforts toward a durable settlement, Gaza’s humanitarian crisis is likely to worsen further.
