France Urges Citizens to Leave Mali Amid Deteriorating Security Situation

France has urged its citizens to leave Mali “as soon as possible” using available commercial flights, citing a rapidly worsening security situation in the country.

The French Foreign Ministry also advised against overland travel, warning that national roads have become targets for armed attacks.

The advisory follows similar warnings from other Western nations, including the United States and Germany, highlighting the growing activity of armed groups and a worsening humanitarian crisis caused by the blockade on fuel supplies.

The French Embassy in Bamako remains operational under a Chargé d’affaires, continuing to provide consular assistance to approximately 4,300 French nationals registered in Mali.
