Mali Receives Over 13,000 Nationals Deported from Mauritania

Mali has received 13,229 citizens deported from Mauritania between March and September 14, 2025.

Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration, Moussa Ag Taher, said the returnees were given logistical and humanitarian assistance, including reception and healthcare, to support their reintegration.

He noted that nearly 40,974 Malians had returned from neighboring countries between July 2023 and mid-September 2025.

The minister also highlighted the case of Yahya Cissé, who was detained in Mauritania for over 13 years and repatriated following direct diplomatic and judicial cooperation.
