Drone strike targets worshippers in Darfur mosque, massacre leaves dozens dead

Dozens of civilians were killed and others injured in a drone strike that hit a mosque in the “First District” of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in Sudan, during dawn prayers.

The attack, attributed to the Rapid Support Forces, left at least 70 people dead, according to local sources and an official statement from Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, which condemned the incident as “a crime that shames humanity.”

The timing of the strike — during the second unit of prayer — contributed to the high number of casualties, as worshippers were unable to seek shelter or escape.

Circulating videos showed extensive destruction inside the mosque and bodies scattered among the rubble.

The massacre has triggered widespread public outrage and calls from rights groups for an urgent international investigation into the incident.
