U.S. imposes sanctions on Palestinian human rights organizations

The United States has imposed sanctions on three Palestinian human rights organizations, according to a statement published Thursday on the U.S. Treasury Department’s website.

The sanctions target the Palestinian Center for Human Rights and the Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights in Gaza, as well as Al-Haq – Law in the Service of Man in Ramallah.

The move follows these organizations’ calls for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate alleged acts of genocide committed by Israel in Gaza, including airstrikes on civilian areas and the ongoing blockade.

The ICC has already issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and a Hamas leader, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The United States and Israel do not recognize the authority of the ICC, and the Trump administration previously imposed sanctions on ICC judges.
