Authorities in Madagascar say they have foiled an alleged coup and assassination plot targeting President Michael Randrianirina.
Investigators uncovered the plan through encrypted communications and evidence seized during security raids including messages outlining the operation.
Officials say around four point eight million dollars had been allocated to fund the plot.
Eleven suspects have been detained including a former presidential official identified as a key figure.
A senior general is also implicated according to prosecutors.
Some suspects reportedly confessed that the plan involved assassinating the president and seizing power.
The case comes amid political tensions following the leadership transition in 2025.
The president confirmed the threat during an official visit abroad.
Security forces have been placed on high alert across the country.
Authorities say further arrests may follow.
