Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei announced that Tehran has agreed to hold a new round of nuclear negotiations with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, following a request from the three European nations.
He stated that the talks will take place on Friday in Istanbul at the level of deputy foreign ministers, with Iranian representatives Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi participating.
This round is part of negotiations separate from the indirect talks with the United States. Since the formation of the current Iranian government, four previous rounds have been held with the European trio regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
It is worth noting that France, Germany, and the UK were parties to the 2015 nuclear agreement, which collapsed after Washington withdrew in 2018.
Last June, the European “troika” leaders urged Iran to refrain from any actions that could destabilize the region, following a U.S. strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.
