Mahama takes oath of office as President of Ghana

Sixty-six year old John Dramani Mahama has returned as President of Ghana.

Mahama returned as president after landslide victory in December 2024 election.

He could not clinch second term in 2017.

At his inauguration on Jan
7, 2025, Mahama shared his vision for Ghana’s future, calling for a comprehensive reset to tackle the nation’s pressing challenges and pave the way for progress.

Reflecting on the current state of affairs, President Mahama acknowledged the significant economic difficulties endured by Ghanaians in recent years.

Despite these hardships, he conveyed a message of hope and determination, assuring citizens that the challenges were not insurmountable and pledging to steer the country towards a brighter future.

Speaking at his inauguration as the 6th President of the 4th Republic, President Mahama underscored the importance of governance that delivers tangible benefits to the people.

If democracy is to be celebrated as the best form of governance, then its outcomes must be evident in the daily lives of citizens,” he remarked.

He added that an honest assessment of the nation’s pulse reveals a widespread sentiment of disconnection from the promised dividends of democracy.

Highlighting the resilience of the Ghanaian people, the President expressed optimism for a new era.

We have endured severe economic hardships, moving from one crisis to another in recent years. But there is hope on the horizon,” he stated.

Declaring the moment a turning point, he continued, “Today marks the beginning of a new opportunity—an opportunity to redefine our governance and economic strategies.

Together, we shall reset our beloved nation, Ghana.”
