600 Nigerien Repatriated from Libya

More than 600 Nigerien migrants have been repatriated from Libya to Dirkou in Niger’s Agadez region on Saturday.

They were repatriated followed their detention in Libya.

Reports indicate that many of the migrants endured severe hardships, including imprisonment under the forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Khalifa Haftar.

The repatriation showcased the challenging conditions faced by migrants in Libya, where arbitrary detentions and human rights abuses are frequently reported.

The Nigerien government and humanitarian organizations are currently providing immediate assistance to the repatriated individuals.

The assistance included food, shelter, and medical care.

Local authorities have called for greater international collaboration to address the migration crisis and ensure the safe return and reintegration of affected individuals.
