ECOWAS is shocked with the intent of withdrawal by Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has expressed shocked at news reports of the withdrawal intent by the Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso from the bloc.

The ECOWAS Commission says though it is yet to receive official communication from the trio junta regimes, it remain ‘seized with the development’.

The Commission in a press statement Sunday evening hours after the Niger Television broadcast by the junta regimes of intent of withdrawing from ECOWAS stated that, it has been assiduously to restore constitutional order in the three countries.

The bloc says it will make further pronouncement on the matter only when necessary.
