Nigeria’s North West Katsina State has praised the Air Force’s strikes that killed more than 80 bandits.
The state also expressed gratitude to
the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, along with the Police, DSS, Community Watch Corps, and Vigilantes, for their successful operation against bandits in Jibia Local Government Area.
The state expressed its excitement in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu.
The operation, which took place on January 4, 2025, was carried out after receiving credible intelligence about the establishment of bandit camps in the area, leading to increased banditry activities in Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa Local Government Areas.
According to Mu’azu, the joint Air and ground operation resulted in the neutralization of over 80 bandits, with several others injured.
“The operation also destroyed the bandits’ hideouts and key operational facilities, significantly weakening their operational capacity.
“The Katsina State Government has expressed its deep appreciation for the joint security team’s commitment and dedication to restoring peace and stability in the state and the entire North West region”.
